My Current Makeup Rotation

Hi.

If you are like me and have to store your make up away in old beauty boxes and a set of drawers, you will know that it can be hard when you are in a rush to pick what make up you want to wear for that day. This is especially hard if you give yourself more time in bed and less time to get ready than you should like me. (Why is it so hard to get out of bed????) To help combat this problem I have a smaller make up bag on my dresser with all the items I want to use in. One of my fave things to do on a Sunday night is choose which items to put in my make up bag for the week. So here is my current makeup rotation.

So I haven't been too adventurous when it comes to complexion and I have chosen many of my favourites as I want something I know I can rely on when I am going to work these include the GOSH Prime and Set Powder, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Revlon Colourstay Foundation and the NYX Concealer. For blush I have gone with one of my new faves the Barry M Cream Blush Stick and continuing on with the Barry M theme with the Barry M Light Me Up highlighter and the Barry M contour kit have also made it to my makeup bag this week. The highlighter I chose as I saw dizzybrunette3, use it on one of her YouTube videos and thought that it looked gorgeous. The Barry M contour kit is one of my faves in light packaging it is easy to travel with and the bronzer and the contour shades are beautiful just for adding a bit of colour although I am not a big fan of the highlight shade.

For eyes I have a rather small selection as usually during the week I don't have time to apply anything. It takes a long time to blend those eyeshadows you know. So if I am have enough time I will usually go for the Barry M Eyeshadow Pencil as this is very easy just to put on my lid and blend away the edges for a quick look but still look put together. I also use the L'Oreal Superliner for days when I have that little bit of extra time to get ready. For occasions when I have loads of time to get ready or am going out out I will use the Charlotte Tilbury Eye Shadow Quad in Dolce Vita having the four shadows together makes it really easy to put together a look that looks beautiful. I also use the Urban Decay Primer Potion to make sure that my eye shadow stays in place and it also makes the pigment that little bit better too. For brows I am currently using this Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara as I have very full brows I am lucky that I don't need much doing to them put this keeps them in place all day. To finish it all off Benefit Roller Lash, nothing too dramatic in my books but this means it looks very natural perfect for work.

And finally on to lips, I have a few selections depending on my mood for the day. If I what an autumnal lip I will go for either the Maybelline The Mats in Divine Wine or the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Grand Cru both of these are perfect autumnal colours and need minimal topping up. If I am in more of a nude lipstick mood I will go for the Rimmel Kate Moss Nude Lipstick in 42, the Kate Moss line is one of my favourite for lipsticks and I have quite a few  already but also have my eye on a few more to add to my collection. If I am feeling particularly lazy I will just put on a swipe of the L'Oreal Infallible Mega Lip Gloss in Protest Queen, this gives a lovely gloss to the lips and at least looks like you have made some sort of effort.

What is in your current makeup rotation?

See you tomorrow!

Get the Glow Makeup

Hi,

Over recent months I have been trying to get more of a glowy dewier look. I used to be all about the matte look but I think that can look a bit cakey and not very natural. I think the glow inducing make up looks a lot more natural for day time. There is however, a fine line between glowy and greasy looking, the latter is much more undesirable.

The key to not looking greasy and shiny which is hard when your skin is prone to being oily is choosing the right products. I think that the selection I have chosen in this post will help to create the perfect glowy makeup without looking like you have gone overboard.

A product that I have not heard much about but is one of my faves is Soap and Glory Hocus Focus. This is a multi purpose product that can be used as a primer or as a highlighter or sometimes I even use it as an eyeshadow base. I usually use this product as a primer before my foundation as it brings a lovely glow to the face which lasts all day long.

The next products are essential for getting the glow and that is the perfect base. My number one fave at the moment is the Bourjois 123 CC cream, although this is a CC cream it gives a decent amount of coverage for a CC cream and gives the perfect amount of radiance from within. This is one is perfect for people who maybe have a more oily skin as it will not look too greasy. Another one of my faves but has to be reserved for when my skin is a bit more dry is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, this foundation is very glowy and can look a bit overboard on my skin if I do not powder. Again this is a foundation that has a medium coverage and can be built up to create more if you want to, I think it definitely gives a look of your skin but better. The only problem I find with it is that it oxidises on the skin so bare this in mind when picking it up.

Next up is brightening the under eyes, not only does this help to hide those bags from that late night you had last night but can also help to make you look more glowy. If I want to achieve this look I will use a combination of two concealers, one for concealing and one for brightening. One concealer that I like to use to conceal is the L'oreal True Match Concealer, this is very good at hiding any colour under my eyes. Next I would go in with a highlighting concealer, although I said in one of my last posts (here) that I was not a big fan of the YSL Touche Eclat, this is the only one I have at the moment but any other drugstore alternative will do.

For a more luminous look, I find that a cream bronzer really helps. Due to it being cream in formulation it is much more natural than a powder bronzer and is also a lot easier to blend than a powder one too. My fave is the Bourjois Bronzing Primer although it looks quite orange toned in the pot once blended out it looks beautiful. Also along the same lines of a cream bronzer is a cream blush, this has the same benefits as a a cream bronzer but obviously in blusher form.My favourite is Barry M Make Me Blush Cream which comes in handy stock form and I blend it out with a stippling brush.

Now on to the main part of the show the highlighters, I have not yet decided what my favourite type of highlighter is but when I go to pick a highlighter to wear there are two that I always gravitate towards are both warm in tone. One of them is the Soap and Glory Glow All Out Powder, this is a pink toned highlighter that once applied to the skin due to my pink undertone looks incredibly natural. It does not have any chunks of glitter in so is virtually undetectable on the skin apart from the lovely glow you have. My other highlighter choice is this Topshop Glow pot as this is a cream product as well, combined with all the other cream products makes for a very natural looking glossy sheen to the skin.

Now on to the final step for the base powder. Being a person who tends to have much more oily skin it is essential for me to powder to make sure I don't go from luminous to sweaty mess. I also tend to take my powder with me just in case of emergencies. My fave at the moment is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Powder  it doesn't make you look cakey it just keeps the oil at bay but doesn't make your lovely glow that you have achieved from the rest of the products disappear. I don't know how it manages it but Bourjois have done a good job with this powder and I will continue to purchase it forever. (maybe :p)

What makeup do you use to get a glow?

See you tomorrow!

My Beauty Haul

Hi,

So last week it was my birthday, of course this meant that I decided to do a bit of beauty shopping (obvs). Being a bit of a newbie to blogging I have been taking part in a lot of blogger chats on Twitter (@JessieLou33 if you care) and this has made me write a list so long on my notes pages on my phone that I barely know where to start with. Here is a selection of things that I picked up when I went into the aisles of Boots and other such places that I am excited to tell you about...

The first product in my haul is this Ted Baker Body Wash. I have never tried Ted Baker body products before and so when I browsing Boots, these beautiful products caught my eye. The packaging alone is beautiful and could probably persuade me enough on its own as I am a lover of pink. The smell is also divine it is quite fruity and floral smell and is described as a mix of grapefruit, mandarin, mango, neroli, jasmine, patchouli, sandlewood and musk. Personally I think it is the jasmine that makes me like it so much as that is one of my favourite scents.

On a similar sort of vein this is the matching Ted Baker Hand Cream. This has the same brilliant scent as the body wash but in hand cream form. The one that I have is perfect for fitting into any handbag due to its small size although I can't find the small one on the website so it might just be in store unfortunately, Now all I need is the matching body spray and I can smell of the divine scent all of the time. Maybe that will be next on my list.

The next product that I have bought is the Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue in Coral Crave. Although I have bought baby lips before in the normal range and was not too impressed with them I still wanted to try the Dr Rescue range. I don't necessarily want it for the colour pay off although I am big fan of a nice coral colour. I wanted it to see if it would moisturise my lips and keep them moisturused. Although I am yet to try it so I will get back to you on that one.

After reading up on what make-up Little Mix were wearing in the latest music video, I had to run out to the shops and buy these two products. I was actually surprised at how many drugstore products that they used. First up is the Barry M Light Me Up Highlighter, which is a lovely golden highlighter, which is perfect for the cheek bones. I have also used it to give me a bit of a sheen on my eye lids too when I can't be bothered to apply proper eyeshadow. It makes the skin nice and radiant and like you have a glow from within.

The last product in my haul also my Barry M is the Barry M Make Me Blush Cream in Rhubarb Crumble. This is a lovely natural pinky flush of colour that is not too obvious. As it is a cream formula you make it blend easily and seamlessly into the skin, to make it look very natural. I use a stippling brush straight away after I place the blush on my cheeks to blend it in. I like this so much that I may have to get the other two colours as well.

Is there anything that you have bought recently? Tell me in the comments below what you bought, so I can make my wishlist longer.

See you on Monday!

Autumn Lip Wardrobe: Budget Edition

Hi,

In one of my last posts I wrote all about an autumn eye wardrobe (here), now its time to move on to the lips! I wanted to make this a budget edition too as I have very few high end lipsticks as I want to be sure that they suit me first so I tend to stick to drugstore dupes.

Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in Nude Perfection - now I know that this is meant to be an autumnal post but I couldn't resist putting at least one nude in, for those days when you are just not feeling a bold lip, this is my product of choice. Having being declared a dupe for the Nars velvet lip pencils they are quite hard to get hold of any of the shades but definitely worth it.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Matte Lipstick in Divine Wine - another helping from Maybelline, this time in the form of an actual lipstick it has only just made its way to my lipstick collection. This is a true autumnal colour with a lovely brown undertone which I feel would suit many different skin tones although definitely on the bolder side of things.

Nude Perfection

Divine Wine

Eva's Delicate Rose

Plum Russian

Sultry

L'Oreal Colour Riche Eva's Delicate Rose - again I know this isn't an autumnal shade that you were all expecting, but what can I say I am a pinky nude girl through and through. Again I feel this shade is more appropriate for the autumn with a darkish undertone. Although one negative I would say about these lipsticks is that the smell might put you off, not one of my faves.

Bourjois Colour Boost in Plum Russian - back to the darker more plum based colours. This shade is a much darker lip shade but is not a matte formula, so if you like the look of the Maybelline one but finds matte lips uncomfortable to wear, maybe you should go for this one. I just love the colour of this one although I do find using a lip liner underneath makes it last a bit longer.

Revlon Colour Matte Balm in Sultry - I know, I know this isn't really your classic autumnal shade again but maybe I am just a little scared of the darker lip, I feel like everyones looking at them when I wear something bold. Anyway, this shade I like to wear when I'm going out, again it has a brownish undertone and has a bit of a Kylie Jenner lip look about it, which I love.

What budget lip colour would you recommend, I feel I need to be a bit more daring.

See you on Monday!
